Terramar was born as a vital evolution. After many years working in other bookstores, María José felt that the right time had come to open her own project. Not like an idealized dream, but as a mature decision, made from experience and love for books. Alicantine of origin, he arrived in Valencia to study and ended up falling in love with the Maritime Towns, especially the Canyamelar, where today Terramar has found its place.
The bookstore is a generalist and is clearly committed to independent publishers, but without giving up the most sought-after books. The goal is that anyone can find a reading that speaks to them. The space invites you to take a leisurely stroll, to stay, to ask. Terramar stands out for a very personal selection: a wide section of esotericism, books about animals, children's and young adult literature, book-object and curious gifts, everything chosen with judgment and affection. Although it is a small place, occasionally it turns out to host presentations and reading clubs (like that of the great Miriam Bermejo), that reinforce their cultural vocation.
María José's philosophy is clear: customer service, love for books and commitment to the neighborhood. At a time when touristic lows are gaining ground, Terramar brings life to the street and recovers the spirit of local commerce. The constant thanks of the clientele confirm this: there was a real need for such places. An essential book for 2026? For María José, A year in the woods, by Sue Hubbell. Here, books continue to be an excuse to meet, talk and make community. And this, hui, it has no price. MARÍA DE QUESADA
