We can now renew our summer wardrobe in a responsible way and without having to sell a kidney along the way. Bobbin is a thrift store that proves dressing well, consume wisely and find real treasures, they can all go on the same hanger. Behind the project are María and Ragnar, a couple linked to the world of design that, after reflecting on fashion consumption and the impact of constantly producing new things, decided to launch an alternative more consistent with its values. When his son was born, that idea just took shape: to create a space where quality clothes can continue to have life far beyond the first wardrobe. Bobbin's philosophy is as simple as it is powerful: value what already exists. In a world that encourages us to buy more, faster and cheaper, ell(e)they claim another way of doing things. Consume better, extend the useful life of the models and remember that, many times, what we seek is already done, waiting for a second chance.
What makes Bobbin special is its carefully curated selection of contemporary clothing. Why not, second hand is not just dresses from the seventies or shirts that look like they came out of a Mecano music video. Here are current clothes, well preserved and with a long way to go. And the history of clothing is precisely one of the things that María loves the most. He likes to hear where the pieces come from, who has brought them and imagine what adventures they still have to live. There is something romantic about rescuing a forgotten T-shirt and seeing someone else take it with the same excitement as someone who finds a twenty euro note in a jacket that hasn't been worn in months. At a time when fast consumption seems to have become the norm, projects like Bobbin remind us that another way of dressing is possible: slower, more aware and, of steps, much more fun.
