El tatreez falahi (brodat rural) is a form of Palestinian embroidery that derives from the word “fallah”, which means farmer or field worker. Tatreez is one of the most popular forms of Palestinian embroidery; has deep historical roots in that land and has evolved to become a visual identifier and a symbol of resilience of the Palestinian people. The Slaughterhouse workshop wants to make this fundamental part of the Palestinian cultural heritage known to show solidarity with a people who, for many decades, fight to survive and see their rights recognized. In each of the five sessions you will practice motifs typical of different geographical areas of historical Palestine. AU
