Cullera Beach Pride 2026

FRIDAY 12 AND SATURDAY 13/6
SPOON (the Ribera Baixa)

spoon: pen and street! is the first exhibition dedicated to recovering the LGTBIQ+ memory of Cullera and its region. The exhibition offers a tour through the nights of the seventies, eighty and ninety to rediscover in images spaces without rules, fearless artists and people who turned difference into a way to resist, to celebrate and build spaces of freedom during the last years of the Franco regime, the Transition and the happy nineties. Through photographs, posters, flyers, personal items and unpublished materials preserved for decades, the exhibition reconstructs part of the popular and emotional history of the region that, often, has been left out of the official accounts. The Xúquer restaurant is part of it, the Chelsea Pub—a place that wasn't exclusively gay, but which became a space of dissent—; Vicky i el Bar Tango; The Guinea Fowl, a drag queen legendary linked to the Route; the transgressor star Charo Granados; the artist of popular root song La Burra de Sueca, or the pioneer of women's soccer Rosa Cairera, promoter of the Pinki Pini bar. This show, opened in May, is the prior of one Cullera Beach Pride that includes Eighteen free performances (In Nebula, Yurena…), the presentation of the book trans childhoods, talks about activism and realities queer, a Liz Dust show, an association fair and a march for equality.
