Cabinet grows

The Drawing Cabinet was a one meter square showcase embedded in the GRAY framing studio, in the neighborhood of Russafa, through which the work of great artists such as Max passed, Maria Herreros, Sr. López, Moisés Mahiques, Manu Blazquez o Juan Cuellar, among many others. A few months ago GRIS moved from the number 14 al 33 from the same street, Azorín Literary, looking for more space to work and the Drawing Cabinet gained a room to make the leap to a gallery and to be able to exhibit every three or four months the work of artists whom they admire and with whom a relationship of respect and trust has been woven that goes beyond art. Consue is the thinking head of this project that will start on Thursday 23/1 with a collective call Mallow and asphodel in which they participate Roberto Molla, Ernesto Casero, Nieves Torralba, Felipe Ortega-Regalado, Santiago Talavera, Manuel Antonio Dominguez y, as guest artist, the National Prize for Plastic Arts 1980, Manuel Boix.

The spaces of GRIS and The Drawing Cabinet intertwine forming a U that offers two entrances. If you choose the door on the left, it is because you are looking for top-quality artisanal framing made with finesse and delicacy.. On the left bank, a custom-made piece of furniture runs along the wall supporting some of the work carried out and in the back room they hang a quadriptic masterful by Roberto Mollá. Show your head, that you will be amazed. At GRIS they know that the frame is part of the work and has a lot to say in the discourse, in the message you want to convey. To advise you wisely, Luís will ask you what you mean by the frame and then, crouched in his wood forest, Gustavo will cut, will carve, lijará, will glue and paint the frame that will dress your work of art. Maybe, using a technique called spline joint -in which the Japanese are masters- that allows wood to be joined without using nails that, with oxidation, could endanger the work. Conservation and aesthetics walk hand in hand in GRAY, the site for those convinced that every good work of art needs the best framing. S.M.
