“I would never have had a bar if it hadn't been La Vitti”

Marcos Herrero and Phillip Thompson Marchuet (The Vitti Bar)

The year has stations and life has cycles. La Vitti, also. But live music does not rest. This is Marcos Herrero's shared story (I Devil) y Phillip Thompson (ex We Used To Pray). Marcos was already Vitti's continuing energy after its founder, Borja González-Ayllón, “Bob Lazy”, he will transfer it a few years ago. And now it is he who gives Phillip the honors of maintaining the magic of live music in a garito as pleasant as necessary, As shelter as temple, and as genuinely simple as a cultural reference and bar with cache. Both unites their passion for music and on that musical path, this conversation is a bit that curious in the succulent personal projects of one and the other. The union link is this magnificent corner that is The Vitti Bar, located in a mythical neighborhood square, The Júcar Plaza, In its new re-consolidation phase. SERGIO BELLO

Marcos, Phillip, how did you meet and how the possibility of the relief of the torch from one to another arose? I would bet on music, And the communicative/ cultural vocation between people from Phillip had something to do ...
M. H. Phillip and I met in a music event at the Turia River Park. I remember that we were talking about a concert of King Gizzard In Barcelona we wanted to go and that Phillip had a long hair. Later I discovered everything that began to ride in Valencia. He called Ku! (One of my bands) To play in an event of Discohike And it was an incredible experience. Years after this, Last June, The relay begins with a call that makes me Phillip where he begins saying “Well Uncle, You will not believe it but ... ". In the end, Vitti III, The movie.
P. T. M. Uff, Where to start!? In summary mode, I would say that for the music scene and entrepreneurship. In communicative vocation mode. Music has always been very present in my life. As a child I went to a music specialist school in downtown London (context: I was born there, My father is British and my mother from Alginet) where played the trombone, I sang in the choir and started battery classes two years before moving with all my family to Valencia, With fourteen years. When you reach the third I got into several bands and adult I had the great luck of playing with those who are now my besties In a band called We Used To Pray. I learned a lot. When the band dissolved, I knew it was time to start my own projects. First came Discohike, hiking routes with local musicians in which, Upon reaching the top, an acoustic concert is organized. After, Deep Valencia: An exchange of languages created to meet people and interesting projects in the city where we offer scenario and micro to a local entrepreneur. One of these entrepreneurs was Marcos, since I am fanboy of I devil and I had maximum respect for carrying the vitti. When he told me that he wanted to transfer him and asked me if he knew someone, I did not fall that that person was me until, shortly after, I started the project Edom Coliving In La Canyada and I met my partner Luka Roca. It came like coliver In February 2024 And one night we realized that, With his eleven years of experience in the hospitality, And my desire to shake the music/cultural scene, We could offer a good relief.

Phillip, You wanted to continue with the Lunezz de maria vines, in which Mariano Steimberg and Ales Cesarini invite an outstanding jazz musician to act (and other genres) to then give way to the jam open. Tell us what else will they be during the week.
Mira, I would never think about carrying a bar if it weren't for the partner I have (TQ wound) and if it were not this in particular. Los Lunezz It is one of the main reasons why I decided to dream, bet, And now fight, For this adventure, given that, for me, It is one of the best plans underground what is in the city. The musical level that exists is flipant. Work with Mariano Steimberg y Ales Cesarini taste, Personal and professional. They are synonymous with quality. We promise to do everything we can to continue bringing the highest quality to the Xúquer square! Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.. Language exchange starts Deep Valencia, where we bring a local entrepreneur to give a twenty -minute presentation on who it is, What does and why. Thus, You can break the ice, connect with proactive people and meet interesting projects. Thursday we have a cycle called Tiny Stage Where we can surprise you with all kinds of musical genres (world music, soul, Progressive rock, flamenco…), And the weeks more "energy" musical events (Pianoke bar with Gilbertastico, Some punctured with vinyl ...) or cultural (book presentations, until, Entrepreneurs events ...).

Marcos, After this important period (We will begin to see you as a client in the Vitti now!), Another equally exciting begins we are going to dedicate yourself in soul. What can you tell us about your band I devil? Do you have other parallel projects in cinema or music?
Well, I'm in Bermuda living now, I bought a cabin with the transfer money ... it's a joke, That! I continue in my town living and with the top music. With that and working with my father, What is the Lewis Hamilton of underwater filming (It is underwater chamber operator). I Devil y you! They are my bands. I devil is my personal project. We are two, guitar and drums, We play a kind of psychedelic rockabilly and now we are presenting our third album, playing where they call us. To! It is my other band and in November we will take out our first album. We are four jambos and we play a very happy punk that gives Colleja. In the end, This year is being great because with nonsense (with the foolishness) I have traveled to the United States, Germany, Belgium and different parts of Spain to give concerts. If the ej que What I like is guitarrilla, hahaha, cof, cof (The guy coughs). Another carajillo! (He is an old devil of the bars).

What caught you from this place?
M. H. A class day, In the Faculty of Architecture, We were the kids to have a beer (Something very rare) By Xúquer and there we sat on a terrace to celebrate I don't know very well what. I entered the garito in question and then felt that a ray broke me in two. He flip me. I connected with space. He connected with my being. And I with myself. That same day I met Borja, The owner of the Vitti at the time. I started to go weevil yes, FIND ALSO. I felt in my house and best than with my class colleagues. I discovered the treasure that was the jams sessions In that place I had found by chance. Culture and art permeated every corner of the little coffee. Later I started working as a waiter at Vitti. I left the race, I started a band. That same year Borja proposed to keep me with the place of my dreams. My parents helped me and I did.
P. T. M. Easy answer. The music. I freaked out that I could see so much level so close to home. I admire Borja for having the vision and founding such a Garito in Valencia, And Marcos for having the courage and the art of continuing it. Now, What catches me are my desire to take the vitti to the next level. I really enjoy thinking about, discuss and try to make improvements like Gourmet coffee, con cocktails of all kinds (Classics, prohibition style ...) and winery food: ham, queso, preserves, flags ...

What does it mean to carry a cultural bar in this era of franchises and decaffeinated places?
M. H. It involves molaring a lot (The sunglasses are removed and gives a beak in the air). No, Now in Sergio: I would never have had a bar if it hadn't been the vitti. Incredible things happen here and have happened. I get the tear when I think about the music quality that I enjoyed while working, at the moments I have lived, In the people I have met. I get the tear even more (already tear) When I hear people talk about the place. I have had the best bar in the world (The guy collapses). The vitti is so far from the capitalist and impersonal model that he reigns through all the cities you know, that when you experience it, You think you are living the seventies. I am dread that these places disappear, That is why I am so happy that Luka and Phillip continue the life of this species in danger of extinction. It goes in Syrian.

Marcos, Where do you touch with me devil and ku!?
Well look, mira, With I Devil we are going to play in Valencia, Murcia, Zaragoza, Holland and other parts. I can't tell you the dates because they are secret (lie, Follow us in Instagram). Fast! We have a very cool date that I can confirm you: he 29 November in the Your con Camels. Come or not come, But come.

Phillip, What do you bring to Vitti soon?
Well, we have a few murders under the manga. I don't want to do spoiler, But we can assure you that the quality of the Lunezz It is maintained, that for the exchange talks on Wednesdays we have entrepreneurs and professionals who live with passion what they do in a wide variety of industries (including music) And that Tiny Stage Concerts Emerging local artists will come, well -known nationals and, even, An international artist.
