“In my beginnings, There was a moment that I was about to abandon”

Eloy Moreno (Castellón de la Plana, 1976) starred in an unusual publishing phenomenon in 2011 when, after shipping more than three thousand self-published copies of his first novel, The green gel pen, was signed by a large publisher and sold more than two hundred thousand copies. His second novel, What I found under the couch (2013), reconnected with the sensitivity of tens of thousands of readers, in 2015 self-published a small personal project, Stories to understand the world, also with great public success, and at the end of it 2015, published the novel The gift. He grants me an interview after the publication of his latest novel Invisible (ink cloud). GINÉS J. VERA.

When did the germ of this story reach you?, At what point do you decide to put it on paper??
It is difficult to say when the seed of a novel emerges., perhaps there are many moments that accumulate and, at last, surge la idea, I couldn't tell you when it happened, it just happened.

while reading Invisible, I remembered a quote from the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche: “Whoever fights with monsters should be careful not to become a monster himself.. When you stare for a long time into an abyss, the abyss also looks inside you”. Can you tell us about it in relation to your novel??
Yeah, There is a moment in the novel when a character wonders where the line is between being a victim or a monster.. Sometimes that border is very weak, very small.

At a certain time of Invisible, one of the protagonists affirms that a small detail can change a life. Surely in your life there have been small details like this, I invite you to share some with us.
Yeah, my life, from 'The Green Gel Pen', has changed in many ways, and many times it has been due to small details, little moments that, maybe, isolated, are not important, but when you see them together you realize that they have been making a path. One of those moments was, For example, when in my beginnings, There was a moment when I was about to give up and I received emails from readers telling me that they loved my novel., Those little details encouraged me to keep going..

Superhero comics also appear in this novel. I would like to ask you about them, for your tastes, What were your favorite superheroes growing up?? Were you one of those who exchanged stickers and comics with friends or in stores??
I was very into comics, but of local superheroes, Mortadelo and Filemón type, that in some way they were also heroes. I also loved Asterix and Obelix., and Zipi and Zape. I remember going with my mother to the flea market to exchange comics. Regarding the cards, The truth is that I didn't make many collections..

Social networks are present in your latest novel and also in your daily life. Give us your opinion on the role of social networks among young people, If you think that control is necessary to avoid events that have shocked society, as many readers will recognize.
Bueno, In the end, social media is just a tool., just like a hammer, you can use them in many ways. In my case, I use them to publicize my books, to let readers know where I'm going to make presentations, firms… The problem is when these social networks are used to, Broadly speaking, waste time.
