AU June Print Magazine 2025

It is a strangely weak June culturally. It surprises us because this was a month in which events used to break out here and there, as in a last final sprint before the arrival of the stifling heat and the summer break. strange times, it is what there is. Even so, We have scratched off a good list of things to see and do, in which the Palau de la Música Jazz Festival is not, for reasons that escape us, outside our will. The big event of the month is Cinema Jove, who turns forty years involved in that beautiful work of discovering films made by young filmmakers, with the novelty this year of Backstage, a series that will screen documentaries about mass idols for generation Z. We will also have the Humans Festwith films that deal with Human Rights, and a cycle of La Filmoteca with the best of cinema released in 2024. The circus rules the scene thanks to the festival Contortions, but there are also loose pearls like A tram called desire, the ballet Romeo and Julieta or the premiere of Espacio Inestable's own production, 42.000km, of Jacobo Pallarés, whom we have interviewed for the occasion.

The second fat festival of the summer arrives in the city, dedicated to urban music, he Bigsound, accompanied by weighty concerts like those of The Jesus and Mary Chain y Wilco. The section Proposalincludes the cabanyalero festival Rosario roars; The cycle Rare, evil and other derivatives, dedicated to women who have not fit into the margins throughout history; the Valencia Design Week; and the Horts Festival, with interesting performances such as Rocío Márquez and Pedro Rojas. And we highlight three exhibitions: Revered and feared about the representation of women throughout history, Scenes and landscapes of Valencian painting between the 19th and 20th centuries, and the IVAM dedicated to Bed nengudi y maren hazings. Besides, we recommend them a historical graphic novel as Here and a Netflix series based on another mythical comic, The Eternaluta; we prepare an aperitif dumplings pickled orange and we are going to eat Salsa, a humble and well-priced Asian who gives you what you need, no fuss.
