VII Open House

FROM FRIDAY 24 ON SUNDAY 26/10
openhousevalencia.org

The most emblematic buildings of València open their doors for another year so that we can look inside and learn about their history, its architecture and its curiosities. As a great novelty, This year they invite us to discover inside a large, recently inaugurated building with the goal of serving us basketball and concerts every week.. The Roig Arena will be one of the new buildings to visit within the architecture festival Open House, and there are some more. You can see the guts of the iconic Gulliver Park; to the Church of San Nicolás —which since this summer offers an immersive experience to admire its wonderful frescoes—; at the Guadalaviar school; and the new Espai Vives, the residence hall designed by Javier Goerlich following aerodynamic rationalism in the exterior design, which became a first-rate cultural center before being relegated to administrative tasks for the University of Valencia. Besides, the architect of the building of À Punt Media, Tito Llopis, will show the facilities of the regional environment; and outside of Valencia, the architect responsible for the rehabilitation of Peñíscola Castle, Pepa Balaguer, will guide a tour of the fortress, with gastronomic tasting included.

The thematic routes with experts are one of the great attractions of this festival and you have them for all tastes: on the architecture of the Blasco Ibáñez university campus designed by Moreno Barberà, the gardens of the Túria riverbed, the islamic wall, the squares of the historic center, Modernist and Roman Valencia, maritime industrial heritage, historic pavements, architecture after the Civil War, the Central Park, the Demetrio Ribes railway complex… You can also see buildings that are worth a visit in themselves., we talk about Espai Verd, The Hortensia Herrero Art Center, The Musical Theater, the Mercat de Colón or the Casinet del Cabanyal. Besides, Open House continues to push us to leave the city to discover the architectural and historical heritage of guest municipalities, this year there are four: active, Cocentenary, Llíria and Manises.
