V Golem Fest

FROM THURSDAY 16 ON SUNDAY 19/11
BOTANICAL GARDEN. Quart, 80

The fantasy festival, horror and science fiction from Valencia brings us two international authors. It will pass by Golem Festival Jaume Balagueró (Rec) to give a masterclass, the french Olivier Truc, who has written four hands together with Rosa Montero (who will also come to the festival) The unknown, a detective novel that starts from the Quais du Polar initiative. The black novel festival in Lyon commissions each year a French author and another from the guest country—Spain under the patronage of BCNegra, in this case— write a police plot set in the two cities and with protagonists from both countries. The other international name is de Tim Pratt, American author of science fiction who won in 2007 the prestigious Hugo Award for the short story Impossible dreams. His latest creation, Prision of sleep, is the continuation of Doors of sleep, a fantasy and science fiction artifact where the protagonist wakes up in another universe when he sleeps. The list of national authors is also very interesting: Juan Ramon Biedma (The magnet and the compass), Miguel Angel Hernandez (The pain of others), Susana Martín Gijón (Babylon 1580), Victor Balcells (Nightclubs outside), Manuel Gutiérez Aragón (East) and the Valencians Eduardo Almiñana (Azimuth) i Yolanda Camacho, whom we will interview in the May magazine for the publication of Summer of 99. Besides, the festival gives wings to youth literature by inviting authors who attract young people and pays tribute to two veterans such as Cristina Fernandez Cubas, recently awarded the National Award for Spanish Letters, and academic Luis Mateo Diez. A smoke of encounters, two workshops, a story competition and the exhibition-tribute to Pascual Enguídanos to celebrate five years, all free! S.M.
