The Benlloch family has worked the land of Alboraia for generations from their Espai Sequer Lo Blanch, encapsulated between the Alboraia vegetable garden and the coast. José, the son, grows chufa to make his horchata — “white gold”, he says— in a natural and ecological way and serves it fresh right there with artisan fartons. And for some time now it has also incorporated the offer of cultural and leisure activities that respect tradition and the environment on weekends (from Friday to Sunday, of 18 to 00h.). In recent years, lindy hop has been danced, vermouth workshops have been organized, of olives in brine or bird watching by bike, live classical music or the ukulele of Lai Badia played and the Mercat de la Saó was set up periodically, a proximity market in which sustainable projects in various fields participate, from crafts to organic garden products. And to appease hunger, three food trucks residents serve seasonal and local ingredients integrated into varied menus for all tastes. Stay tuned for the events that are scheduled because La Mina studio is behind them, which has moved its programming from Carrer Gutenberg in the paved city to this space in the middle of the fertile lands of the vegetable garden that they plan to fill with culture and leisure. The weekend of 2 al 3 in July they have organized a local culture festival called Open Mine to celebrate their first anniversary in space. There will be a collective exhibition of products (for sale) of design, photograph, ceramics, Valencian illustration and art, concert de Laborde, detox market, foodtrucks i orxata. AU
