Neighborhood carnivals

RUSSAFA AND EL CABANYAL

February is carnival month and, tot i don't have Sambódromo, nor Queen of the Carnival, in xirigotes, some fun parade we can witness. It's been nine years since the association Russafa Cultura Viva organizes the Carnival of Russafa [16/2] to recover the carnival tradition of immigrant groups in the neighborhood, especially from the Latino community, that survives gentrification. Therefore, is a multicultural party that this year has the participation of 500 instrumentalists of Valencian music bands, who will set the pace for the dances of folkloric groups from other countries in a demonstration of coexistence between cultures. The parade will start at 4pm. to the Manuel Granero park, to continue through the Philippines, Literate Azorín, Swedish, Dénia i Cuba, and end at Pintor Gisbert. At the Cabanyal we also have carnivals and a parade, but to the rhythm of New Orleans music. Sunday 17/2 The Unió de Pescadors del Cabanyal Musical Society under the direction of trumpeter Roqui Albero (trumpeter for singer-songwriter Jorge Drexler) will emulate again at the rate of jazz and with a traveling band of 40 musicians the American Mardi Grass.
