THEY DESERVE THE LEG

Mud also tells us stories. Raquel and Pedro came from Galicia and Almeria and stayed to build their project in the Valencian Mediterranean. After years of working with plastic in image projects linked to photography, the video, graphics and art direction, they met the metal and the mud. Materials that they use in their creations and that we have always needed to carry food, serve-them, save essences and identify different groups. Canoa germinates with this idea and Canoa Lab becomes Russafa's place where the couple creates, it relates to the world and its art, and develops works closely connected to the essence of the Mediterranean, their colors and shapes, where ceramics have been understood as a way of life and a key material in human relationships. The craft, design and art are erased in the Canoa Lab pieces to give way to the fragment of the whole, always respecting, both the most traditional ceramics, like contemporary design. What they like most about their work is that their creative process is not subject to a single prior and concrete idea but is an event without a clearly differentiated before or after. And that's the magic of Canoa Lab, that each product you take with you is part of an entire project. That is why it is so difficult for them to detach themselves from their creations. Hui, Raquel and Pedro dream of being a space of reference in the experimentation of plastic and design (look out, this is fulfilled!) i, later, by transferring his life project to nature, in the slow observation of what surrounds them. We will gladly follow them closely wherever the mud takes us! MARÍA DE QUESADA
