The war in Ukraine stars in the Photo of the Year for the jury of the World Press Photo, a contest from which the most prestigious photojournalism exhibition in the world is derived, bringing together some of the most striking images captured throughout the globe during the year 2022. The Ukrainian Evgeniy Maloletka captures the moment in which Iryna, a pregnant woman, Evacuated on stretcher from maternity hospital in Mariupol after Russian attack. The child would be born dead and Iryna would die half an hour later.. The 11 Valencia edition of the World Press Photo awards photographs that portray some of the most significant events of the past year and offers glimpses, sometimes hard, other poetics, about the multiple realities of the planet. The second category of the contest is Graphic Report of the Year and focuses this year on the illegal organ trade in Afghanistan, specifically, Mr. Khalil Ahmad, a child whose parents have sold their kidney for 3.500 dollars to buy food for the family. war wounds, migration in the Mediterranean, the charge of the Israeli police on the men carrying the coffin on their shoulders during the funeral of the journalist from Al Jazeera Shireen Abu Akleh, the rebellion of Iranian women against the obligation to wear hijab, overwhelming floods in Australia… so many themes collected and explained in images in an exhibition that always, always, triumph, because always, always, it's interesting.
