FROM FRIDAY 26/11
MuVIM. Quevedo, 10
The MuVIM brings together in the same room the work of two photographers who have worked on the city of Valencia from very different prisms.Rafael de Luis Casademunt he does it from memory with snapshots that reflect the passage of time on streets, people, buildings and walls, the transformation of the historic center or the disappearance of traditional shops. The photographs of old Valencia remind us of what the trail was like when it set up camp in Plaça Nàpols i Sicília, what the Round Square looked like before the remodeling (more modern about authenticity) or the wonderful sign of the Guantes Camps store. This nostalgic blog contrasts with other very recent photos of a Valencia full of graffiti on the walls that welcomes new spaces like House of Varietats. Past and present wrapped in a speech that makes us remember what we have lost. Carlos J. Making mistakes, for his part, projects what could come in Valencia, future imperfect. His critical and dystopian gaze lands in the form of large-format photomontages of a desert Valencia denied by the sea. Nostalgia and dystopia in an exhibition about the ravages of time in our city, very different from what has been and what will be. S.M.
