Nicolás Ortigosa. works 2002-2018

GENS PUMPS. Burjassot, 54

We begin the journey through the work of the young Nicolás Ortigosa with the series of 89 pieces he made around The Divine Comedy by Dante (2005-2014). It is a very expensive subject in the history of art, but Vincent toddle, artistic advisor of the Per Amor a l'Art Foundation, he saw in his work a "proper and surprising language" that transcended, although the classical references are obvious. The result?? The Collection For the Love of Art, in a strategic and risky move, I bought the whole series in its entirety. Ortigosa read the poem at the University and found in it a very visual language that he would develop artistically, first in a more innocent way and then more intellectually, until the matter became too clever, lost freshness, and let him die. A Bombs You will not find hell represented at all, paradise and purgatory with different techniques and media filtered by Ortigosa's mental images. That in the next ship, put aside the figuration, it increases the dimensions of the painting and invades it with lines marked by gestures charged with energy. The third series that closes the show is Covered paintings (2002-2018). Black painted canvases that, between lumps and shadows allow the viewer to sense the previous painting that is hidden under the new surface. Ortigosa says that, type it, he found his painting. S.M.
