Far from canon. 23 works of the Museum of Vilafamés

THE SHIP. University, 2

The art critic Vicente Aguilera Cerni fell in love with Vilafamés in the years 60 and convinced the Provincial Council of Castelló to buy a 15th century palace that would house a collection of contemporary art. Besides, he got many artists of the time close to him to also move to live in the town. Fifty years after the idea began to take shape, Nau shows us 23 large format pieces that reflect the spirit of this atypical museum, far from the canon, due to its location—the interior of Castelló—, for its conception and its modus operandi: does not buy, it only accepts assignment and donation of work. We will find works of art and sculpture by Elena Paredes, Angels Frame, Eusebio Sempere, Horacio Silva and Sebastian Miralles, others. Vilafamés lands in Valencia expecting the Valencians to make the journey in reverse. S.M.
