Martin Parr. Parrathon

CARME CENTER. Museum, 2

We never talk about the socks that mysteriously disappear during the laundry, That's why when someone points out this strange paranormal phenomenon with fun we laugh.. When we realize that a ridiculous situation turns out to be shared, the joke appears. And that's what it does Martin Parr with your photographs, portray grotesque situations in which we see ourselves recognized, of which we have participated, like those included in his series dedicated to selfie, to couples who get bored together or to mass tourism. The Center del Carme displays original photos, entertaining and accessible that invite you to see familiar situations in a different way and to laugh at yourself. Tan british and so universal at the same time, like the incomparable Monty Python. Parr cultivated humor in his images at a time when photography was dominated by drama, but always against a background of social criticism, either to excessive consumerism, to the ambitious middle classes that emerged from Tacherism or to the stablishment British. Kinder is his series focused on dance (according to him, the most democratic form of expression) and more artistic, in elegant black and white, the one dedicated to meteorology. Parrathon is an exhibition of seductive photography full of criticism and humor. AU
