Lorca, orwelliano, goyesco, Dantesque… They are adjectives formed from the names of artists who have marked Western culture with letters of fire., whose influence is beyond any doubt. Our most illustrious filmmaker, José Luis García Berlanga, He earned this privilege for his ability to bathe his films in satire., customs and caricature, That is why “berlanguiano” is one more entry in the Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy since 2020. Precisely Berlanguiano was the title of the exhibition mounted by the Film Academy in Gens Bombs in 2022, year in which Valencia hosted the Goya gala; two years before MuVIM had organized Long live Berlanga!! to celebrate one hundred years since the birth of the Valencian director. So not just any excuse is worth putting together an exhibition about Berlanga in Valencia and Caixaforum knows it.. Just as it was clear that the exhibition had to open here, in his land, in the Mediterranean, in Valencia. The objective of Interior Berlanga is to offer an intimate and never explained look at his figure thanks to a team of curators very close to him and the cataloging and digitization work of his archive located in the Spanish Film Archive, for the first time, available to the public. The exhibition delves into the filmmaker's career through projections, objects and documents from your personal archive, many of which have remained unpublished until today. For the first time, it makes available to the public more than 300 original pieces within a carefully cinematographic setting that invites viewers to discover the multiple facets of a fundamental creator of the 20th century in Europe: the visitor will be able to enter his studio, visit a school inspired by those that appear in Welcome, Mister Marshall o Calabuch, return to the legendary Atlántico movie theater or see how Berlanga's work is transmuted into a peculiar falla.
