between the lines

To Saturday 28/2
SET SPAI OF ART. Pl. Miracle of the Handkerchief, 4

The Necker cube is an optical illusion created by the Swiss crystallographer Louis Albert Necker in 1832. He pays tribute to his compatriot's cube Lukas Ulmi in some of his pieces, that change depending on the angle from which you look at them or your mood: you can see two shapes fighting or shaking hands, according to the day. It is the first time that Ulmi does not close the cube space, he leaves it open by removing an edge. it's us, the spectators, those who complete the forms. Eliminate to add, as Josef Albers did at the Bauhaus, defender of the economy of form. The artist works with very basic elements and the shadow they project, and makes use of the calculated elegance of geometric shapes in this sample between the lines, created specifically for the Set Espai d'Art gallery.
