confluences is an artistic residency program of the IVAM that invites several artists to settle in small towns in Castelló, Valencia and Alicante to listen to the territory and intervene in it following respectful dynamics. Driven by 2021 by former director Nuria Enguita, its aim is to extend the museum beyond the four walls of the Julio González centre, make it permeable to inject contemporary art into areas of the Valencian Community at risk of depopulation and support, in passing, local creation. well, this aspiration to expand the center has ended up turning around to return to the matrix of Cap i Casal, in the form of an archive of the work done in recent years, and new pieces that include aspects announced in the works that were produced on the ground, reusing materials minors leftovers or focusing on new aspects. That is to say, what they used to be site-specific designed for populations in the Valencian countryside with less than a hundred inhabitants, now they are in the context of the great contemporary art museum of the great capital. In confluences. Between the archive and the intervention you have a Bleda and Rosa updating his famous series dedicated to football fields. His artistic proposal on the ground consisted of the installation of two gates in the terms of two small opposing municipalities of the Serra d'Espadà, Pavías and Torralba del Pinar. An ephemeral intervention in the landscape that symbolically connected two municipalities from different counties with sculptures located in the middle of nature and physically distanced by the topography of the land to highlight the impossibility of playing the game and reflect on the landscape. At the IVAM they have a photograph of that ephemeral intervention and the model of the goal placed. Pilar Beltran, reflecting on laundromats as meeting and meeting places (especially for women), created in Villanueva de Viver soap bars the color of honey with the inscription "acto de conciliación" that in the IVAM extend like an organic mass from the void of the plinth of the exhibition hall. Studying reflected on the depopulation of rural areas by creating postcards with images of the municipality of Herbers on which residents of the village wrote about their daily experiences. They are now inviting museum visitors to write about their everyday reality on new postcards that will be sent to the village, where they will remain on display until the IVAM exhibition concludes. In addition, they have created a very interesting map about inbound and outbound travel (fundamentally) d'Herbers that visually shapes the depopulation process of the region. Luce, Make Your Life, Lola Zoido, The Fourth Skin, Carlos Izquierdo, Pep Vidal, Sandra Mar, Ruben Garcia i Laura Palau complete the group of heterogeneous artists who converge at the IVAM to make us reflect on the landscape, the cures, the depopulation, the use and abuse of the territory, the identity, the memory, the vacuum and the climate challenge.
