This week, My interviewee is Laura Mata Román. was born ago “a few years” in Malagón -as we read in his biography-, in a hot month of August. From that small La Mancha town of Ciudad Real he moved with his family to Valencia. grew up here, study, currently works, vive, enjoy, and write. With almost 20 years in the book sector, promoting in schools and bookstores, He says he has fulfilled one of his dreams: post, since in March of this year his first children's story was published. Con Clara, Neo and the Icicle says continue “shaping a castle of dreams fulfilled”. Precisely because of this book, Clara, Neo and the Icicle (Malian publisher), we asked. GINÉS J. VERA
How did the idea of writing come about? Clara, Neo and the icicle?
Since I was little I have liked to write, and through writing transmit feelings and emotions, and in this story the desire to transmit the interest in reading is mixed, the love of animals and nature in a playful way, with a story that can attract children. Clara is a girl who inspired me as an example of the joy of reading., and Neo, that really exists, I was inspired that in the difference there are also many skills.
As protagonist as Clara is Neo, a very special cat that shows us how cool it is to read. I imagine that is one of the great messages of this story.
Neo is the cat of one of my best friends. still alive, and like in the book, missing a leg, but he is a happy cat. The Neo in the story likes to read, and is capable of doing whatever it takes to achieve it. It is the great message of history. In these times of digital screens, We have to learn to combine both things and leave a lot of room for reading..
One of the places where it takes place Clara, Neo and the icicle, It is the little town of Vistabella, next to Penyagolosa, with its bell tower and snowy streets in winter. Tell us about him.
Vistabella is a beautiful town, with cobbled streets, some store, the oven, a small school, a wonderful church… a town in Maestrazgo surrounded by nature. What characterizes it is that it is at the foot of the most emblematic peak of the Valencian Community., the Penyagolosa, mountain that we should all know. I discovered Vistabella through Clara's parents, the protagonist of the story, and since then I like to visit it from time to time, climb the Penyagolosa, walk through its streets and enjoy its excellent food.
I think he dedicates this story, the second one he publishes - the previous one also this year, in March-, to his two daughters. At what ages does this book recommend??
Indeed, The book is dedicated to my daughters., because really, I feel very proud of them, They are great people, and great readers, and they have the values that I have always tried to transmit to them.
Is there a Neo at Elena and Irene's house??
Neo does not exist in their homes. A long time ago there was a cat Miquel, and another Geppetto, they lived in the countryside, They were free cats, and making use of that freedom, When they felt like it, they left to explore other horizons..
