The University of Valencia once again takes the path of the online, as he has already done with the Festival Serenades, to develop Cinema Nights this year. It is moved to the platform of the movie following the example of other audiovisual festivals such as DOCS Barcelona or the D’A Film Festival in order not to miss an edition of 2020 marked by the Covid-19 pandemic. Cone in previous years, the program includes two cycles of screenings and presentations by renowned guests. The first cycle, “Conscious cinema”, has selected some of the most outstanding films of the 2019 signed by committed filmmakers like Ken Loach, Celine Sciamma, Oliver Laxe i Agnès Varda to stimulate social reflection, cultural and political. “Long summer in Europe”, the second cycle, brings us tapes in which summer serves as an engine to promote vital changes. Les foranies de Paris or a calorós Madrid, for example, they are the settings of the movies Future (2016) of Mia Hansen-Løve o The Virgin of August (2019) of Jonas Trueba. The presentations will be attended by the vice president of CIMA, Virginia Yagüe [10/7], the winner of the Goya 2020 in the best new direction, Belén Funes [13/7], or the director of the Sant Sebastià Festival, José Luis Rebordinos [16/7].
