El Bartolí botanical garden, located in the municipality of Palmera, and the gardens of theHotel Montsant de Xàtiva host a new edition of the contest Avant-garde cinema in the garden. Driven by the Todolí Citrus Foundation, this cycle of projections proposes to us, from an avant-garde point of view, a tour through different ways of approaching nature. Under the generic title ofThe sensitive field, this fifth edition of the contest wants to offer a reading, at the same time, “mythical and nostalgic” of nature through films that aim to show forms of life integrated in the countryside and rural life. The works gathered in the cycle are portraits of artists or gardeners who live in communion with nature, understanding it as a thing “sacred and valuable”, as well as psychedelic abstractions and explosions of color that reveal the fascination of these filmmakers for the natural world. The program brings together works by classic authors of experimental cinema such as Bruce Baillie, Marjorie Keller o Bruce Elder, along with contemporary filmmakers such as Jodie Mack or Joel Schlemowitz.
