What are they laughing at in Europe??

CARME CENTER. Museum, 2

Last May, in full confinement, the Center del Carme launched the film series onlineConfi(n)ats to comedy within your CCCCenCasa program, a selection of eight Spanish comedies that tried to make us smile in moments of paranoia and uncertainty. They know well in this cultural center that humor is the most powerful tool to fight against fear, discomfort and sorrow, Therefore, it has decided to extend the activity, focusing this time on European comedy that has been forged beyond our borders.. They could have programmed Monty Python or Jacques Tati and would have covered the file with probable public success but, What fun is there in returning again and again to what is known and recognized?? Culture is discovering and expanding horizons, and that is precisely what the cycle intends What are they laughing at in Europe?? that will project 16 unreleased films in Spain (of 21) from twelve different European countries outdoors in the museum's beautiful Gothic cloister. The first, the Franco-Belgian My worst nightmare [16/7], It stars a splendid Isabelle Huppert alongside the incendiary comedian Benoît Poelvoorde; in the second, the Italian The girl with the gun [17/7], Monica Vitti shows her comic vision in the hands of director Mario Monicelli; and the English The naked civil servant [19/7], Considered one of the best films the BBC has ever produced, was the one that catapulted John Hurt to the Olympus of great actors. But be careful, Don't confuse laughter with comedy!! In countries like Portugal, Greece and Russia consider that the tragic element is inherent to the genre and demonstrate it in films like the Greek one. Mia zoi tin ehoume [21/7]. Masked [26/7] is the masterpiece of Viennese filmmaker Willi Forst; the czech Button makers [23/7] He wonders how the inhabitants of Hiroshima expressed their anger at the dropping of the atomic bomb if the Japanese language does not have swear words or insults.; and in the German I'm beautiful? [2/8], with Juan Diego Botto in the cast, director Doris Dörrie portrays twelve Teutonic characters who find in Spain the space of disconnection to question their own identity. You can also see Upper, prchni! [6/8], a gem of Czech cinema; the polish Panic attack [7/8] about a fully capitalist Poland that has fallen prey to social networks and other forms of escapism that prevent us from facing reality; and closing the cycle, Yvan Attal and Charlotte Gainsbourg mock the routine that so often stifles life as a couple in They married and had many children [8/8]. These are just a few of what you will find in this film series with which the Center del Carme invites us to laugh this summer. Free entry with prior reservation. AU
