Memory and utopia

OF SUNDAY 10/12 ON SATURDAY 27/1
THE FILMTECA. Pl. town hall, 17

The International Film Week of Valladolid and the Filmoteca de Valencia propose the series Memory and utopia, a selection of fourteen films that want to shake up the canons established by the history of cinema in order to offer an alternative account of the same. They are forgotten pieces, others censored, lost and, In some cases, recovered thanks to modern restoration and conservation processes, that challenged the conventions of narrative in their day, exploring new techniques with the aim of proposing a different look to tell the historical and social transformations of his time. Start the cycle with Millenium stuff [16 i 28/12], key piece in the filmography of Taiwanese Hou Hsiao-Hsien. It follows him Spanish fury [21 i 27/12], by Valencian Francesc Betriu, tape that, in the tone of traditional comedy, shows us the other side of the Spanish developmentism of the late Franco regime in the relationship of a couple who get married on the day of the match in which Real Madrid and Barça compete for the league. December ends with the projection of Return to reason [21-22/12],piece in which Jim Jarmush and Carter Logan restore and sound four brief works made in the early 20th century by the photographer Man Ray.
