UNTIL WEDNESDAY 26/1
THE FILMTECA. Pl. town hall, 17
A suggestive title for this cycle offered by La Filmoteca to end the year. Organized with the Seville Festival, Towards another History of European cinema offers us a re-reading of the canons that have marked the history of cinema in our continent. The selection rescues films considered minor from filmmakers who, for his visionary condition, they didn't get the recognition they deserved, especially in Spain. Four titles open the cycle in December. The first is Cassius the great [4/12], documentary directed by photographer William Klein, exceptional document about the political and social context in which the career of the boxer Muhammad Ali developed. Followed by tapes like We have many names [5 i 7/12], intimate portrait in which Swedish filmmaker Mai Zetterlingm reflects on the role of women based on her personal experience, o Blind spot [8 i 11/12], the German debut Claudia von Alemann in which a historian, married with a child, leaves everything to follow in the footsteps of the activist and pioneer of 19th century feminism Flora Tristán. The December program closes with the melodrama Sentinel, alert! [15 i 16/12] directed by Jean Grémillon and Luis Buñuel. G.LEON
