70 years of the San Sebastián Festival

FROM FRIDAY 7/1 ON FRIDAY 30/12
THE FILMTECA. Pl. town hall, 17

There is no doubt that the Sant Sebastià Festival has become the most important cinematographic meeting of auteur cinema in our country. It is our own Cannes and the world's best female directors have passed through its halls. In collaboration with Filmoteca Vasca, the festival itself and the Valencian Institute of Culture (IVC), The Filmoteca offers us this cycle of films that aims to be an approximation of its seven decades of history. With the projection, throughout this year that begins, of forty titles that went through the Donostiarra program since its first edition of 1953, chosen between the official sections and those dedicated to first-time filmmakers. A whole history of cinema in compressed format. This January we will see Paris, underworld [7-8], masterpiece by Jacques Becker and projected in the first edition of the contest. This tape will be followed Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea[15-16] de Richard Fleischer, one of the great adventure film classics based on Jules Verne's novel, time to love, time of to die [22-23], postwar drama directed by Douglas Sirk, i The testament of Orpheus [29-30] by Jean Cocteau.
