The Cultural Center The Boat of the University of Valencia continues to serve cultural nuggets during the viral confinement in the form of conferences, classical music exhibitions and concerts. In the last fascicle you will find the recorded conferences of the writer Esmeralda Berbel about the difficulty of building oneself by writing, and of Emilio Ontiveros, founder of International Financial Analysts (Afi), in which he talks about Europe's position in the face of global instability, a topic that comes to mind these days (here, an interview with him). Besides, you can listen to the concerto for flute and orchestra no.. 1 of Mozart performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the University of Valencia and tour the exhibition Saute, Open design and reuse, a collective exhibition on open design and reuse as tools of social transformation that returned to Valencia in February after a few years of absence. The proposal was born in 2009 as a counterpoint to the Valencia Furniture Fair to show that another design is possible and that respect for the environment and people is more important than the latest trends that are shown every year at trade fairs. You will be able to see some of the more than forty proposals on display, like a mobile phone designed without coltan (a mineral highly coveted by the West that is generating hidden wars in the heart of Africa), furniture assembled from recycled materials, collectively built buildings, open source small appliances so they can be replicated, industrial machines… Long live DeHogar in Valencia!
