Valencian art galleries have long understood that there is strength in numbers and they launched an event called the Valencia Open that, basically, consists of the joint inauguration of the exhibitions that open the season and a series of guided routes structured by areas of Valencia. The goal is for the general public to stop seeing art as an elitist and incomprehensible invention and end up entering through the door.. The offer is large and varied, there will be paint, sculpture, drawing, installation, photomontage and video art, abstraction and committed art, young promises and established artists who are no longer here. Tania Blanco, always political, demonstrates its technical expertise by reproducing logos and fonts of the most powerful companies in our country (Telefónica, Ferrovial, Mercadona, Santander…) to subvert images and question rich conglomerates. In the Jorge López gallery, Argentina Valeria Maculan reinterprets masks from Greek theater, what, seems to be, They carried a cone in their mouths as a megaphone that allowed the actors to project their voices. The photomontages of Oscar Seco in La Mercería they drink from the comic, dinosaurs and cinema to create science fiction scenarios where catastrophe is tinged with irony. Maria Muñoz uses textile materials to weave his works, Elena Aitzkoa makes sculptures with wet cloths and plaster, the iranian Salehi Program, austere and minimalist, with copper, Ruben Guerrero play with the shape, the fragment and the color and the Benlliure Gallery dedicates its exhibition to Manuel Hernández Mompó, who was one of the most prominent figures of Spanish abstraction in the 1950s. These are just some examples of what can be seen., In total, almost twenty galleries participate and it is a good time to discover them. S.M.
