BLASCO IBÁÑEZ HOUSE-MUSEUM. Isabel de Villena, 159
It's time to visit the beach to enjoy this exhibition that brings together two of the most international figures of Valencian culture: Vicente Blasco Ibáñez and Josep Segrelles. Blasco discovered the painting of Segrelles in 1921 and captivated him (with Guillermo del Toro), hence he commissioned the illustrations for four of his novels (The chair, The intruder, The dead rule i May flower) which finally the publishing house Prometeo never published. That's why some of the 24 works that are exhibited at Segrelles and Blasco: drawing the words they had never seen each other. You will find oils, watersheds, Chinese ink washes, graffiti or very expressive monochrome watercolors where Segrelles shows off his mastery of chiaroscuro, his ability to play with lights and shadows. The fantastic and macabre world of Segrelles makes an appearance, but there is much more because the subject matter is very diverse. Some pieces reflect the reality of life, others contain miseries, and others add idealistic and romantic elements, always with the expressive genius of Albaida's master. AU
