SINCE THURSDAY 21/10
MuVIM. Quevedo, 10
Take your eyes out of the painting, look at it another way, overcome clichés and stereotypes; walk in front of the large window of the MuVIM, observe the works of Uiso Alemany, by day, at night, under different lights, with different spirit. His paintings speak to us and with each look they tell us something different., because the painting is not explained, “art is a mystery”, as the Valencian artist states. Fried eggs come out of the hands of this eternally young octogenarian, a man with a hat, bars, faces, that he captures on what looks like crumpled paper, with its curves and folds. This is how Uiso mixes the human and everyday with the architectural, taking us back to the prehistoric caves, to the cave paintings on the volumes of the stones. It seems uncomfortable to create and observe a painting in this way, but Uiso Alemany is not a comfortable artist: His constant concern for humanity and historical changes are seen in the combination of monstrosity and emotion in a work that is as visceral as it is reflective., and that forces us to look beyond what is captured.
