Rafael Contreras and the Mongrells

UNTIL SUNDAY 8/9
MUNICIPAL ROOM. Archbishop Mayoral, 1

Heir to a family line of great artists, pioneers of poster art in the 19th century, Rafael Contreras was the great promoter of graphic design in Valencia and introduced the specialty of poster design in the Faculty of Fine Arts. He stood out in the second half of the 20th century designing colorful posters for the festivities of the city of Valencia, like his revolutionary poster of Fallas de 1982 Idyll of fire and failure that paves the way for future posters. In the exhibition Rafael Contreras and the Mongrells you can follow the process of creating this legendary poster and many others with a Mediterranean essence and a marked popular character that are absolutely modern with those created by the school. A reference of a style and a way of doing things. S.M.
