Sevillian cigar makers became immortal thanks to the opera Carmen. Far from the folklorizing look of Georges Bizet, the Valencian women cigar makers also constituted an important female labor collective during the 19th and 20th centuries in our country. With struggle and mutual support, they managed, for example, a Nursing Home that took care of their children while they worked.
