UNTIL SUNDAY 31/7
F. BANCAJA. Pl. Tetouan, 23
Joaquín Sorolla, Ignacio Pinazo and José Mongrell—the latter, disciple of the first two— were three of the great painters of the Valencian and Spanish scene from the middle of the centuries who meet at the Bancaja Foundation to show decorative paintings made to order, therefore restricted by the patterns established by the particular patron. Even so, they suffer the personality of the person who painted them, for example, in the iconic and enormous work of Sorolla Jo soc the pa of life (1897), in Bacchante and love (1890 ) from Pinazo, the most rebellious, with obvious erotic content camouflaged among the mythology of classical culture; or in allegory of music (1908) the Mongrell, piece made to dialogue with the architecture of the modernist Ortega Building on Marqués del Túria avenue.
