Pierre Verger. A photographic journey through Republican Spain (1935)

MuVIM. Quevedo, 10

La Rambla de Barcelona, the caves of Paterna, the palm grove of Elche, the Alhambra of Granada, the mosque of Córdoba. Such recognizable images take on a different light, another intensity, another perspective from the eyes of a curious visitor, a Pierre Verger in love with the world, so photography was not a profession, but a way of living and feeling. After going around the whole world, of working with the best photographers and for the best magazines and newspapers, the Spain of 1935, Spain of the Republic, it was the conquest of this tireless traveler: Pierre Verger portrays the small details of life's happenings, the walkers, the buildings, the streets of a country that was going through a turbulent time of his history, still blaring beauty everywhere.
