THE BASIS. West pier, s/n
In the headquarters, the new exhibition of La Base de La Marina, several paradoxes coexist. It is inspired by the great European Gothic and Romanesque cathedrals, but the artist, José Sanleón, he is a self-confessed atheist. Of course, admits that if there is a place to believe, that's the seat. Majestic, grandiose and bathed in the light that filters through the stained-glass windows to create that atmosphere of recollection that favors prayer. Just the one missing from La Base, a big space, Yeah, but industrial and ice cream. More favorable for the works of the artist from Catarroja, that with aluminum and methacrylate pieces arranged at right angles, cultivating minimalism, recreates cathedrals such as those of Orvieto and Strasbourg, the religious organs or the marks that the stonemasons made on the blocks. Sanleón has left painting to evoke its headquarters with metal and rivets. S.M.
