The silhouettes of Kara Walker Inspired by the shadow theater that the IVAM exhibits in another room, they have such quality and give rise to so much overlapping readings that it was worth stretching out the gum.. That's what they thought in the museum, that pulling from its own collection—nuclear in the new stage (and before too)—, could ride a collective exhibition around a concept as malleable as the shadow, The gloom, The chiaroscuro, Black and white. So, the MACA of Alacant and the IVAM have put their collections into dialogue, looking for specters and ghosts, first; and internal shadows (the complexities of the psyche), after; to end the shadows of the domestic and absent architectures. This translates into a hundred works that combine chiaroscuro and black and white in very different ways.. The elongated shadows cast by the enormous tripods of Ángeles Marco and the city of Miquel Navarro, the negatives of old black and white photographs intervened by Carmen Calvo, the very white towels folded on enormous black shelves of Navalon Nativity, or the delicate circular paper book Anna's speech that darkens near the core are, for IVAM, forms of Inhabit the shadows.
