Coronacrisis and culture: proposals from Valencian creators

THE SHIP. University, 2

A few days after we were locked up at home due to the health crisis caused by Covid-19, La Nau set to work on this idea that started in online format and is now being fleshed out in the historic building of the University of Valencia. Marisa Gallén, National Design Award 2019, coordinates the project Coronacrisis and culture which has been forged by asking fifty Valencian artists from the field of design and illustration to create graphic proposals related to reflections that various intellectuals have made in recent months following the pandemic. The exhibition poster does not do justice to a project that treasures the proposals of the first swords of Valencian design and illustration, professionals com Ibán Ramón, Paco Roca, Dani Nebot, Pepe Gimeno, Jack Slap o Ana Penyas, to give just a few examples. On the other side, that of theorists, the critical spirit is important, as you can imagine reviewing the intellectuals who participate with their reflections, national and international figures of recognized prestige such as Paul B. Valued, Judith Butler, Jane Goodall, Yayo Herrero, Noam Chomsky, Esteban Hernandez… Among the proposals resulting from this symbiosis, we highlight a handful to give you an overview, general i, therefore, incomplete: Elías Taño illustrates the outraged from the words of Naomi Klein, Escif draws a Chinese fire extinguisher as a metaphor for Ai Weiwei's criticism of his government, Lawert it embodies the dangers of data transfer that we do through mobile phones, of which Marina Garcés warns us, i Didac Ballester, in the most striking work of the entire route, materializes Juan Luis Arsuaga's questioning of science, climbing the altars as the new pagan religion. The improvised La Nau exhibition brings together Valencian graphic talent and reflection. AU
