Large-format material painting that evokes seabeds and volcanic landscapes. Eso es lo que encontraréis en Caleb, en la sala más pequeña de la Fundación Bancaja. Tienen volumen, son convulsos, despliegan colores preciosos y, indeed, son cuadros que te transportan al fondo del mar. Detrás de ellos está la mano de Cristina Babiloni, que los pinta en horizontal sobre una madera especial para barco. Ha de ser resistente porque sobre ella descansa el peso de capas y capas hechas con distintas técnicas que deben secarse una a una. Arena, arpillera, redes, materiales de desecho y maderas se revuelven para conformar obras que, según apuntaba la comisaria de la muestra, beben de la luz de Turner y de lo matérico de Kiefer. S.M.
