Museum of Ethnology. Corona, 36
It's not too much of a stretch to say that much of the information about Native American peoples that came to us growing up came through the lens of Hollywood.: every evening, western films loaded with stereotypes (and dubbed in Valencian, per cert) they populated the televisions. Beyond Hollywood compare this cinematic vision of North American Indians with the perspective and knowledge that these peoples have today about themselves, creating a perfect space to reflect on cultural identity or ethnic representation. The exhibition examines cultural diversity, beliefs shared throughout the American continent, the change, the complexity and traditions that are still alive through objects from various tribes, especially the Anishinaabe of the Great Lakes region. The exhibition is organized around four axes: origins, diversity, Confrontations and Answers, and is presented as a juxtaposition between native and western points of view. GEMMA SANCHIS
