Before the garden

UNTIL TUESDAY 11/7
NATURE. Turia Gardens (Tram II)

That the Jardins del Túria are, hui, one of the most attractive assets of Valencia, few people deny it. After the catastrophic floods of 1949 i 1957, the Francoist administration diverted the river before it entered the city and citizen mobilization managed to transform the old dry bed into the long green area we enjoy today. To celebrate the 35 years of history of the gardens, Valencia City Council and L'Etno have set up this small photography exhibition that shows us… the river Turia with water! To newly arrived people living in their bed (Live in the river); people extracting gravel to make mortar, grazing, fishing or growing onions and sweet potatoes (Live from the river); i valencian(e)s canoeing, flying the catxirulo, cooking pans, playing football or racing motorbikes (Live the river). A recreational and social use that still remains today. For many years! AU
