63 World Press Photo

F. CHIRIVELLA SORIANO. Valeriola, 13

It's already here, It has not left us hanging due to the Coronavirus, one of the most successful exhibitions year after year in Valencia, without exception, the World Press Photo. The most important photojournalism contest in the world brings together beautiful images, shocking and revealing about current world events of the last few months, and packages them in the form of an exhibition so that they can be tasted in different countries. This year, The winning photograph has been Straight voice by the Japanese Yasuyoshi Chiba, showing a young man illuminated at night by an aura of mobile screens as he recites poetry protesting the Sudanese army's refusal to cede power to civilians following the coup that overthrew Omar al-Bashir, in power for thirty years. The WPP awards photo of the year, but also recognizes the photographic series that tell a story, and this year's winner also talks about rebellion. The work of the Frenchman Romain Laurendeau portrays the genesis of a revolt that ignited in Algeria thanks to the rebellious attitude of the youth who took to the streets in February 2019 challenging the government of Abdelaziz Bouteflika. And opening the focus a little more, You will find portraits of different characters and snapshots of the environment, nature and sports that make up a great panorama of the world in which we live.
