The photojournalist Biel Aliño he went up to a balcony to capture an image of cars piled up in the street that would become the symbol of the DANA that drowned the Horta Sud, replicated a thousand times by newspapers all over the world. The coverage of the tragedy that he did for Agencia EFE has led him to win the most important documentary photography competition in Latin America, the Poy Latam (Pictures of the Year Latin America). And you know what? He studied at the School of Art and Design in Valencia (EASD) and that's why it's here, within the display that commemorates the 175 years of a center that has trained hundreds of students in illustration, jewelery - was a pioneer on a national scale in the higher education of this discipline -, moda, product design, interiors and photography. In this area, the exhibition includes the works of Jorge Lopez, Sergio Belinchón, Eva Manez and the most recognized Bleda and Rosa, who can boast of a National Award together with other professionals present at the Carme Centre. We talk about Paco Roca (comedian) and three design masters: Nacho Lavernia (2012), Vincent Martinez i Lola Castello -of Point Furniture (1997)— i Pepe Gimeno (2020). From the last two, the bold bookshelf is exposed To literature with wheels and double bottom, and the iconic palm tree of the Valencian Community, a benchmark of Valencian design, prestigious for the work of other first swords like Juan Nava, Ibán Ramón o Didac Ballester. You will see mannequins dressed for Francis Montesinos, Zumex's first Z-100 juice machine designed by Carlos Tiscar and the cart-walker prototype that will be produced by the Rosler firm, designed by the emerging creator Daniel Redondo. The master appears in the interior design area Pepe Cosin, i I study nothing, the person in charge of the project for the Roig Arena. All these names, viewed as a whole, they give a good overview of the valuable quarry of talent that the EASD has become from the heart of Valencia. S.M.
