A delicate balance

FROM FRIDAY 11 ON SUNDAY 13/10
OLYMPIA THEATER. Saint Vincent the Martyr, 44

Edward Albee won the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1967 with this Delicate balance that Alicia Borrachero and Ben Temple have covered for the Spanish stage. It was the first of three Pulitzer Prizes he won during his lifetime., the second for Seascape (1975) and the last one for Three tall women (1994). In the work at hand, A wealthy middle-aged couple sees two friends appear at their door who have fled in fear from their own home because of an invading and nameless “fear.”. But, What if there is more terror in the house where they take refuge than where they come from?? We see the seams of a family that wants to be idyllic and, background, the crisis of a Western middle class that has lost the feeling of security. AU
