When a text goes from paper to being recited out loud, the words take shape. And it depends on the person who interprets it, they will have a bell, a rhythm, a cadence... We do not realize the importance of the silences that do, For example, precede or follow a word, can convey other meanings. Silence was the central theme of playwright Juan Mayorga's entrance speech at the Royal Academy in 2019, where he wanted to pay tribute to theater and the art of the actor. Now, played by Blanca Portillo, adapt this speech to a theatrical piece where a lecturer who doubles as an actress invites us to reflect on silence. G.T.
