Yerma cannot have children. Barren, “the dry one”, “the withered one”, can't be a mother. But the problem does not lie with her, but on her husband. Does Yerma's problem then lie in infertility or in passion?? Yerma's passion es an adaptation of García Lorca's work that deals with the conflicts between desire and morality, motherhood and death, gender and power, from the freedom offered by contemporary times and placing the female private universe at the center of history. The incomparable María León gives life to a main character who raises the different reasons that can trigger the tragedy because, as García Lorca already stated in his day, “"Not even the firmest honor is capable of subduing the passions.".
