42 Sagunto in Scene

FROM THURSDAY 31/7 TO SATURDAY 23/8
Roman Theater. Pl. Facundo Roca, s/n (Sagunto)

The recipe of Sagunto in Scene has barely changed in his 42 edición: a couple of works that come direct from the Mérida Classic Theater Festival With recognized actors, some more of another fat contest like the Greek from Barcelona, Contemporary proposals here and there, A flamenco pinch, Much circus in the streets and a handful of Valencian companies. The Valencian language, however, has a residual presence within programming, You can only listen to it in Rogles of songs and misery [22/8] of Cactus Teatre. Yes this year has been opted for an internationally acclaimed company, China TAO Dance Theatre, León de Plata Award at the Venice Dance Biennial 2023. Will present 13 y 14 [2/8], Two Tao Yee choreographies that explore dance from total abstraction: It's not about telling stories, but to invoke a direct sensory experience through movement.

Piecemeal. One of the big national names is that of Maria Leon, which brings from Mérida the story of Electra [16/8], Agamemnon's daughter, King of Mycenae, willing to avenge the death of his father, killed by his mother and the lover of this. Pure classic snake that interrogates us about what pushes us to avenge ourselves. Lluís Homar heads the other proposal inaugurated in Mérida: Adriano memories [21/8], A first -person testimony of the life of the Roman emperor born in Hispania. From the Grec Festival we get a work that we have already seen in Valencia, In the middle of so much fire [12/8], in which Alberto Conejero brings us closer to The Iliad Through Patroclo, Achilles' companion.

Three more works look back (in different degrees) To reformulate the classic with a contemporary filter: The Hidalgos de Verona [31/7], that explores the relationship between love and friendship based on one of Shakespeare's first comedies; Don Friolera's horns [9/8], where Valle-Inclán draws us a military man who crazes when he receives unfounded information about his wife; Doña Rosita la single [19/8] About Lorca's Eternal Solterone; y The water of Valencia [14/8], the Valencian proposal led by Rebeca Valls, A Musical Comedy of Capa y Espada in which Lope de Vega, Guillem de Castro and Constança de Perellós face their fears and passions in the Valencia of the late 16th century. The other Valencian work that will be hollow at the Roman theater will be Querencia [23/8], with which the Saguntina company Hungarian Theatre celebrates its thirty anniversary.

The proposal that breaks the traditional formats, Created specifically for the festival, it will be Tursimodeinterior [31/7 y 1/8]. A street show where the neighbors of the Sagunt historic center, accompanied by David Montero, They will put everyday life in the center. Flamenco will serve Yerai Cortés [7/8], the guitarist of the documentary of C. Tangana; and the Valencians Versonauts [5/8] They will offer a show that moves between music, poetry and performance. And finally -last but not least- The circus and dance: A fun career with a clown troupe (Pilots), the visit of the goddess Eirenê to the tent of the circus of The Malabó Troupe (Eirenê, Under the tent of heaven), Circus and textual theater to remind us that time flies (Vitae), An accident comedy at cash rhythm, hype and saucer (B.O.B.A.S.), and two bodies found while they dance (Dummies).
