The festival Maniatic dedicated to the fantasy genre is six years old, ephemeris that celebrates changing the headquarters of the Ateneo de Manises to the Babel cinemas in Valencia. This year they will project 25 shorts in official section, chosen from among 751 works received from countries such as Norway, Ireland, canada, United States or Belgium. Besides, we will be able to see two feature films: The Antares Paradox, debut of Luis Tinoco that counts, in real time, the story of a woman who must decide between helping her family or attending to the greatest discovery in history, the existence of extraterrestrial life; i Emergency declaration by Korean Han Jae-rim. And five feature films with a catastrophic vocation: Rubicon by Magdalena Lauritsch on the protagonists, on board a space station, they must decide whether or not to return to Earth to search for survivors after a toxic cloud engulfs the planet; Emergency declaration by Bisang Seoneon about a pharmaceutical researcher who hijacks a commercial airliner and unleashes a threat that affects the passengers and the rest of Earth's inhabitants (Official section in Cannes and premiered in Sitges); The paradox of Antares directed by Luis Tinoco, a story in which its protagonist will have to decide between attending to a critical family drama or answering one of the most important questions for humanity; Project Wolf Hunting by the South Korean Kim Hong-Sun that narrates the transfer on a cargo ship of a group of dangerous criminals, guarded by 22 police experts in violent crimes who will have to quell the riot that is generated on board; i Vesper directs for Kristina Buozyte and Bruno Samper, a dystopia in which a thirteen-year-old girl must protect her paralyzed father. In addition, on Monday 21/11 there will be a talk titled “The woman and the devil” where different religious and mythological fictions will be presented that link women and the diabolical in cinema: the temptation, surrender to evil, possession and fervor.
