Treinta años le ha costado a Terry Gilliam terminar este proyecto que parecía gafado (llegó a rodar un documental narrando sus desdichas, Lost in La Mancha). Gilliam se basa en el personaje más famoso de Cervantes, The Quijote, para llevarlo al terreno de la fantasía. Toby, un rico publicista, regresa a España para rodar un anuncio, cuando un misterioso gitano le da una copia de una película que, adaptando The Quijote, rodó en su juventud. Toby regresa al pueblo manchego donde tuvo lugar el rodaje para comprobar las trágicas consecuencias de su paso en la población. G.LEON
